Food and fun: The Red Stick Food Fest is returning to Baton Rouge for the second year in a row. The Louisiana Hospitality Foundation says the festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel. This year’s festival will feature menus from regional restaurants and caterers, as well as craft vendors, arts and live music by Dumpstaphunk, Werewolf and the Matt Kayda Trio. More announcements will be made soon. The festival is free, but VIP tickets will also be available for a fee. Get more information.
On deadline: Today is the last day to apply to participate in the state’s CEO Roundtables program. Louisiana Economic Development says the roundtables bring together groups of 15 to 18 executives and decision makers at small businesses around the state. The groups meet 10 times over the course of a year for growth-oriented, collaborative sessions that allow CEOs to explore personal and business issues. To be eligible for the program, participants must represent businesses that have a principal location in Louisiana, companies with annual revenues between $600,000 and $50,000,000 and at least five and no more than 100 employees, among other requirements. Get complete details and apply.
Sounding the alarm: The National Association of Realtors is sounding the alarm about the federal government’s National Flood Insurance Program, which is set to expire on Sept. 30 unless it is reauthorized. NAR says it’s working closely with federal regulators and members of Congress “to strengthen the program and clear the way for a private market to take hold.” But NAR President William E. Brown warns that allowing the program to expire would cause significant damage to current policy-holding property owners as well as threaten property sales and the broader housing market. NAR has more information.
