Hitting where it hurts: Dentists are seeing an increase in patients with stress-related teeth problems. WTVF in Nashville, Tenn., reported that the number of people who ground their teeth until they cracked has tripled recently. “Certainly it’s a stressful economy, and it shows up in the dental chair as well,” one dentist told the station.

One of only 100 students to get honor: Seena Khosravi, a recent Baton Rouge High graduate, was one of 100 U.S. high school students who won a Toyota Community Scholarship. Khosravi was one of just three Louisiana students to get the $10,000 award, which goes to graduates who showed leadership in the classroom and in the community.

Suburban N.O. company sees drop: Stewart Enterprises Inc., a funeral service provider based in suburban New Orleans, reported adjusted net earnings of $10.6 million for the fiscal year’s second-quarter. Those earnings, on 11 cents per diluted share, compare to $14.1 million, or 15 cents per diluted share, in adjusted earnings for the same period a year earlier. The adjustment follows what the company calls “unusual items,” including tax valuation charges, and non-recurring expenses, such as litigation costs related to the company’s insurance claim over Hurricane Katrina.
