Just across the river: A 75,000-square-foot distribution warehouse located on roughly eight acres of land at 1000 LeBlanc Road in Port Allen has sold for $2.85 million. PC Holdings Magnolia LLC was the purchaser, and the seller was Over The River LLC. Benjamin Stalter, vice president of commercial real estate with Maestri Murrell Real Estate, and Edward Rotenberg, partner and associate broker with Saurage Rotenberg Commercial Real Estate, handled the transaction.
Let me ride: Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell has received legislative approval to buy a new sport utility vehicle with taxpayer dollars, to replace his four-year-old SUV. Lawmakers on a joint budget committee agreed without objection Tuesday to let Caldwell buy a 2013 Ford Expedition, with a price tag of $26,712, to replace his 2008 Ford Expedition. Statewide elected officials are allowed to buy vehicles on the state’s dime or receive a car allowance. But they must first get approval from the Legislature’s joint budget committee before using state cash for the purchase.
Step right up: Louisiana opened today its election sign-up period for all state and local races for this fall’s election. Candidates must file paperwork and pay their fees by Friday if they want to appear on the Nov. 6 ballot. In Baton Rouge, the mayoral race and contests for all 12 Metro Council seats are sure to provide some fireworks. On the state level, much of the focus will likely be on the races for Louisiana’s six U.S. House seats and a pair of seats on the Louisiana Supreme Court. You can check out all the races and see who has qualified for them thus far here.
