About a search and a journey: The Planning Commission has launched a redesigned property finder on the city-parish website, allowing visitors to search for property by street address, subdivision, and a host of other criteria. The new “eBRmap” can be accessed here. In an effort to provide up-to-date geographic data, eBRmap will be refreshed each week and will replace the city-parish’s former Internet Property Finder, which has been in use since January 2004. The old property finder will be available on a transitional basis until Sept. 28, when the new system will permanently replace it.

High water risin’: With anticipated assets of $1 trillion by 2070 and an estimated population of 1.4 million by then, New Orleans is No. 12 on a new list from Bloomberg ranking port cities around the globe with the most to lose due to climate change and rising sea levels. “Warming waters, rising seas and historical canal-building through marsh has brought a terrible net result: The Gulf swallows southern Louisiana land at a rate of approximately a football field every hour,” Bloomberg notes in its report. Miami ranks at the top of the list, and New York City is No. 3.; otherwise, the list mostly names foreign cities. Check it out here.

Northern star: CenturyLink, a Fortune 500 firm and one of Louisiana’s brightest beacons of commerce, is about to grow even bigger at the company’s Monroe headquarters, The (Monroe) News Star reports. CenturyLink says it will break ground on a 225,000-square-foot headquarters expansion in early 2013. Its building project is one of the commitments the company made last summer when it announced it would create 800 local jobs by 2016. The expansion is expected to include technology research facilities as well as additional office and meeting space. Read the full story here.
