Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story stated that Caring Clinic of Louisiana would open a new clinic called Open Health Care Clinic. Caring Clinic of Louisiana is actually rebranding itself as Open Health Care Clinic. Daily Report regrets the error.
Fresh start: Thanks to a new federal designation, the Caring Clinic of Louisiana is rebranding itself as Open Health Care Clinic and will offer a full-service, primary health care option in Mid City. Originally an HIV/AIDs-focused center, the clinic recently received the Federally Qualified Health Center designation, which makes it eligible for annual federal funds that will allow it to provide a wider array of services for medically underserved parts of Baton Rouge, according to a news release from HIV/AIDS Alliance Region Two Inc., which operates the clinic. The facility also will be eligible for enhanced Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements. “From pediatrics, to dental, to endocrinology, Open Health Care Clinic will provide advanced medical services for every phase of a person’s life regardless of their financial or insurance status,” HAART says in a news release. The clinic, located at 3801 North Blvd., will celebrate its grand opening as Open Health Care Clinic on Friday, Oct. 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy and Metro Councilman LaMont Cole are set to speak at the event. See more about Open Health Care Clinic.
