Reuters based the report on remarks by three people with knowledge of Apple’s supply chain. The new iPhone will reportedly look largely similar to the current model but will feature a faster processor.
Prosecutors reject offer: The lawyer for a University of Alabama fan charged with poisoning landmark trees at Auburn’s Toomer’s Corner says prosecutors rejected a plea deal in which his client would have avoided serving additional time in jail. Defense attorney Glennon Threatt Jr. says he made a “low-ball” offer to the district attorney’s office on behalf of Harvey Updyke Jr., but prosecutors declined it. Threatt says he expects Updyke to be in court for a hearing scheduled for this afternoon, but the outcome is uncertain. Threatt says he intends to waive a preliminary hearing, where some evidence could be presented. He says alternatives to a prison sentence for the 62-year-old Updyke, who has health problems, include outpatient mental health counseling, electronic monitoring and supervised probation. Prosecutors haven’t commented.

An article in today’s Daily Report AM incorrectly stated some of the positions of the Coalition for Louisiana Public Education, a new advocacy group. The coalition is asking the state to hold off on assigning letter grades for school districts and value-added assessments for teachers and principals until realistic criteria can be determined.
