Under review: Eight rated Louisiana colleges, including LSU, are being targeted for review for possible credit downgrades because of the state’s budget crisis, Moody’s Investors Service has announced. “The action reflects looming state funding cuts, including an unexpected contraction in state scholarship aid,” Moody’s says in a statement posted to its website. The colleges are: LSU, University of New Orleans Research and Technology, University of Louisiana at Monroe, LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans, Louisiana Tech University, Southeastern Louisiana University, McNeese State University and the Southern University System. In a statement, Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards says Moody’s announcement should be a wakeup call for anyone who thinks the state can cut its way out of a budget crisis. Next step: The RV Shop has purchased 5.1 acres in the Greens at Millerville for a new facility. According to sale documents, Millerville Green LLC, represented by RV Shop founder Gerald Vince, paid $1.96 million to Appropriate Real Estate LLC, represented by Greens at Millerville developer Charles Wallace “Windy” Gladney Jr. Daily Report first reported last May that the RV Shop planned to build a new sales and service center on 5 acres and relocate from its current facility at 14340 S. Choctaw Drive because of the visibility and exposure the new location will offer the shop. The Greens at Millerville is a mixed-use development just off Interstate 12 at Millerville Road.

Sprouting up: Louisiana Nursery has announced it will unveil three state-of-the-art greenhouses at its store at 8680 Perkins Road at 10 a.m. Saturday. The structures encompass 8,200 square feet and were designed by Rough Brothers, Inc. from Cincinnati, according to a news release. The three-bay greenhouse system enables Louisiana Nursery to increase its inventory for “color” plants by 40%, and customers will have access to a wider variety of plants, the news release says. The greenhouse will have a computerized climate control system, european benches to display plants and environmentally friendly technology to dispense water. Special polycarbonate also will be used to control condensation and all for maximum sunlight.
