Leading receiver gets shut out: LSU’s Terrence Toliver says he is getting encouragement from friends, family and coaches since being passed over in the NFL draft. A two-year starter and the Tigers’ leading receiver last season, Toliver was surprised that he wasn’t picked. And the NFL lockout only adds to his uncertainty. “It was frustrating, but I had family here to cheer me up and say it was going to be all right,” Toliver, who watched the draft from his parents’ home in Hempstead, Texas, told The Times-Picayune. “My teammates texted me, saying they expected me to get drafted.” Toliver says the calls he got from several teams during the draft give him hope that he hasn’t been forgotten. “I know after the lockout is over I’ll have a chance to sign with some teams,” he told the newspaper.
Device will have touch screen: Research In Motion is releasing a new version of one of its high-end BlackBerrys, updating the Bold with a touch screen and fresh software. T-Mobile USA says it will carry the BlackBerry Bold 9900 later this year. Research In Motion Ltd. is under pressure to update its high-end phones as it’s losing out to iPhones and phones running Google Inc.’s Android software. Last week, the company cut its earnings and sales forecasts for the current quarter, saying it’s selling fewer and cheaper phones than expected; its stock plummeted. Like the original Bold, launched in 2008, the 9900 has a keyboard under a 2.8-inch-screen in landscape orientation. It’s thinner than before, at just 10.5 millimeters, making it the thinnest BlackBerry yet.
