Moving on: The head of LSU’s NAACP chapter says an event protesting a Daughters of the Confederacy meeting on campus this week has been moved from Milford Wampold Park after issues arose over the chapter’s lack of a permit to host the event at a BREC facility. Chapter President Cimajie Best says the event has been moved to the LSU Golf Course near Alex Box Stadium and will start at 5:30 p.m. today. BREC Superintendent Carolyn McKnight had told Daily Report that the group would not be able to hold the public event at the Stanford Avenue park without a permit. Best told The Advocate the protest would be a celebration of the Black Lives Matter movement and also a time of “good food and fellowship” to promote unity. The event was to be called a “Confederate barbecue” because the flag was to be “roasted,” at least figuratively, on a grill.
Mark your calendar: Harvard Business School professor of business administration Lynda Applegate will discuss “Perspectives on Entrepreneurship” at LSU’s E.J. Ourso College of Business on Tuesday, Sept. 15. The event will be held in The Rotunda of the Business Education Complex from 10 a.m. to noon, and it is free and open to the public. Applegate is one of the founding senior faculty and former department heads of the Entrepreneurial Management Unit at Harvard Business School. Her research and teaching focus on the challenges of building new ventures and leading radical business innovation in the face of significant industry, technological, capital market and regulatory turbulence.
