Don’t overlook LSU: The LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center is ranked No. 8 on a new listing of the nation’s most underrated law schools, Bloomberg reports. Alfred Brophy, a law professor at the University of North Carolina, published the ranking online, grading law schools on just three measures of success: students’ employment outcomes, their median scores on the Law School Admission Test and the number of citations that a school’s law review receives. By distilling the rankings down to these metrics, Brophy says he can get at the essence of a law school’s worth: how well it prepares its students for the profession they have chosen. Looking for options: In an interview with Entertainment Weekly today, Miss USA/Miss Universe President Paula Shugart says the Miss USA pageant in Baton Rouge will be streamed online at the very least. “At a minimum, we’ll be streaming. We’re still shopping other options,” Shugart says. “As you can imagine, several groups have come out of the woodwork offering to stream us, just because everyone knows the viewership will be huge now.” Her comments come after Univision and NBC have pulled the plug on a global broadcast of the pageant, which will take place in Baton Rouge for a second straight year on July 12.

Promoted: Business First Bank today announced that two longtime executives have been promoted to newly created roles as the bank positions for continued growth in connection with its recent merger with American Gateway Bank. Greg Robertson has been named chief banking officer and Sonya Jarvis has been named chief operations officer. Both executives will continue to report directly to Jude Melville, president and CEO. In addition, Philip Jordan has been promoted to western region CEO, reporting to Robertson. The promotions are effective immediately. The company has more details.
