True freshman: LSU’s new College of Human Sciences & Education was officially launched Sunday. Brow down: Two days after being taken as the No. 1 pick in the 2012 NBA draft on Thursday night by the New Orleans Hornets—and just a day after arriving in the Crescent City—Anthony Davis sprained his left ankle at the team’s training center in Westwego, team spokesman Harold Kaufman says. The Hornets consider his status to be day-to-day, but the 6-foot-11 Davis must be evaluated later this week before he can practice with the U.S. Olympic team. Davis is among the players being considered for the American squad at the London Olympics. The former Kentucky star was slated to train for several days at Hornets facilities, along with fellow New Orleans first-round draft pick Austin Rivers, before departing for U.S. practices that begin Thursday in Las Vegas.
It would be so nice: In a sign that Americans may be learning to relax on vacation, a new survey finds that about half of top business executives did not check in with their offices while on vacation—nearly double the rate compared with two years ago, The Los Angeles Times reports. According to the survey of 1,400 chief financial officers, 51% said they don’t call their offices while on holiday, compared with 26% in 2010, according to a report by Robert Half Management Resources, a Menlo Park, Calif., staffing resource company. The same survey found that only 8% of executives checked into the office several times a day in 2011, compared with 18% in 2010.
