Time to decide: Along with taking up the recommendation to appoint F. King Alexander to be the next president of the LSU System and flagship Baton Rouge campus, the LSU Board of Supervisors will consider a few other items at a special meeting Wednesday. Also on the agenda is a proposal to turn over management of university-run hospitals in Shreveport and Monroe to the Biomedical Research Foundation of Northwest Louisiana, as well as an executive session discussion about demands made by attorneys representing The Advocate and a former editor of The Daily Reveille for records relating to the search for the next LSU president. New kid on the block: Tampa, Fla.-based JHS Capital Advisors has announced the opening of its first Louisiana office at 10935 Perkins Road, Suite D. The Baton Rouge office is led by financial adviser Emily Domingue, who most recently worked for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Domingue was also the founder of Slidell-based Business Solutions by Cote, assisting entrepreneurs with finance, marketing, staffing, banking, planning, accounting and tax reporting issues during their companies’ developmental and early operating phases. JHS has offices in 21 states and Washington, D.C.
That buoyant feeling: Lockport-based Bollinger Shipyards has delivered the fifth Fast Response Cutter to the U.S. Coast Guard, the company announced Monday. Chris Bollinger, executive vice president of new construction, says the Margaret Norvell was delivered last week to the 7th Coast Guard District in Key West, Fla., and will be stationed at USCG Sector Miami. It will be commissioned in New Orleans in June. Each Fast Response Cutter is named for a Coast Guard veteran who distinguished him- or herself in the line of duty. Norvell served 41 years with the U.S. Lighthouse Service in Louisiana, from 1891 to 1932.
