Globetrotting: Beginning this week, the LSU Olinde Career Center will begin accepting passport applications from students and the general public. Applications will be accepted Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the center, located in room 158 of the LSU Student Union on campus. The new passport office will open Thursday, LSU says in a release. Meanwhile, The LSU Tiger Card office will issue passport photos Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in room 109 at the student union. The cost for two photos is $10. Lakeside: The Baton Rouge Area Foundation has changed the location of its next open house meeting on the ongoing master planning effort for the rehabilitation and preservation of the LSU lakes. Instead of being held at the E. J. Ourso College of Business Auditorium on the LSU campus, the meeting on Thursday, Jan. 29, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lod Cook Alumni Center on campus, at 3838 W. Lakeshore Drive. At the open house meeting, attendees will be able to view and comment on the initial working designs for the master plan, a final draft of which will be released on April 30. All together now: The Louisiana Department of Education has entered into a partnership with the LSU Human Development Center in New Orleans to provide school districts support in writing plans for educating students with special needs. Through the partnership, the agencies will collectively gather feedback from educators and families to develop and implement a comprehensive plan that will address special education policies and training teachers of students with special education needs. LSU will also support the education department in conducting workshops with teachers and families to implement the plan. The education department has complete details on the partnership.
