It’s all good: A survey of 114 Louisiana small business owners by San Francisco-based Thumbtack.com shows optimism has reached a two-year high. The website says the survey, designed with Bloomberg, shows small business owners in the state reported a 10% lift in positive feelings about their current financial situation, while the outlook for future profitability also rose by 6%. Of the small business owners surveyed in Louisiana, the biggest concern remained acquiring new customers. See the full survey results.
The cost of closing: Mortgage closing costs across the U.S. declined 7% over the past year and now average $1,847 on a $200,000 loan, according to Bankrate.com. The website says Louisiana is home to the nation’s 18th-highest average closing cost, at $1,877, $1,060 of which is the average origination fee and another $817 for average third-party fees. Hawaii’s average closing costs of $2,163 are the highest in the nation, while the cheapest closing costs are in Ohio, at $1,613. The website surveyed up to 10 lenders in each state in June to compile the report. See the full report.
On the drawing board: A 2.8-acre site at 14443 Perkins Road has sold for $1.6 million to Georgia-based developers who are planning to build a 34,273-square-foot adult care facility on the land. As Daily Report first reported last month, the new facility is being marketed online as Phoenix at Jamestown and will be located in The Lakes at Jamestown, Carlos Alvarez’s planned unit development. According to sales documents, the land was sold by Alvarez Construction Co. and was purchased by Perkins Road Memory Care LLC.
