Making plans: G2 LNG LLC, a Louisiana-based company for which former Gov. Buddy Roemer serves as chairman, is set to announce details of a new liquefied natural gas export project at a 10:30 a.m. press conference. The project will be located on 766 acres of the Calcasieu River Ship Channel in Cameron Parish. In a press release, G2 LNG says it has an agreement with multipurpose financial service firm Roemer, Robinson, Melville & Co. to provide development funding for early regulatory and engineering services.
Candidate rising: Gov. Bobby Jindal’s presidential bid received a boost in the latest poll of Iowa voters by NBC News/The Wall Street Journal/Marist. Jindal rose two points in the poll, which was conducted Sept. 23-30, to 6%. That placed him tied for fifth place among the GOP candidates with Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz in Iowa. Donald Trump continues to lead in the latest Iowa poll, with 24% (down five points from earlier in September), followed by Ben Carson at 19% (down three points), Carly Fiorina at 8% (up three points), and Jeb Bush at 7% (up one point). Top honors: The Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations has selected the Baton Rouge-based Society of St. Vincent de Paul among its 2015 honorees of the annual LANO Force For Good Awards. Other award winners include Gerard Barousse of the Bayou District Foundation in New Orleans. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will receive LANO’s Nonprofit of the Year Award, while Barousse will receive the Leadership Award. They will be honored during the annual LANO Conference taking place at the at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge on Oct. 22-23.
