Easy as 1-2-3: Louisiana Department of Education Superintendent John White will be unveiling Louisiana Believes 2013-14 today at 3 p.m. at a Jefferson Parish elementary school. LDOE says the event will “give a look at the increased achievement of Louisiana’s students and set the framework for the progress in the coming year.” For those not in attendance, the event is also being live-streamed. Vaulted: Teche Federal Bank says it will open its newest branch at 5063 Essen Lane, across from the Our Lady of the Lake campus, on Monday. “This is a prime location for Teche,” says Tyrsi Richards, branch sales and service manager. “This new branch will have six drive-thru lanes to move our customers in and out quickly at this busy intersection.” It will be the New Iberia-headquartered bank’s third location in Baton Rouge.
Energized: National specialty retailer Batteries Plus Bulbs opened its first Baton Rouge location on Tuesday at 6555 Siegen Lane. Batteries Plus Bulbs has more than 550 locations across 46 states, with each store offering more than 40,000 different types of batteries, light bulbs and accessories. The Baton Rouge store will be operated by franchise owners Tim and Kathi LeBlanc.
Cruise control: Team Honda of Baton Rouge says it has received the highest possible dealership score from American Honda Motor Co., netting it a President’s Award for its performance in 2012. More than 1,000 U.S. Honda dealerships competed for the President’s Award title, with just 112 dealerships getting it. This is the 10th year that Team Honda of Baton Rouge was thus honored. It is the only President’s Award winner in Baton Rouge and Louisiana’s only 10-time recipient.
