Program aims to help youth learn about business: The first South Louisiana Lemonade Day, which seeks to train boys and girls on how to start, own and operate their own lemonade stand, will be held Saturday. Lemonade Day was established four years ago by Houston entrepreneur and philanthropist Michael Holthouse; in 2010 its events took place in 15 U.S. cities. Organizers for Saturday’s event in southern parishes are looking for sponsors to help provide interested children with all the materials they need to set up a stand. For more information, click here.
Leaves job with textbook company: Clayton Wilcox, who was superintendent of East Baton Rouge public schools from 1999 to 2004, has been named superintendent of the Washington County school system in Maryland. Wilcox, 55, has been an executive with Scholastic since 2008. The Washington County school system has about 22,200 students and more than 1,700 teachers.
