Boardwalk goes for $80 million: The mortgage holder for a Bossier City shopping center has purchased the property for $80 million. The purchase of the Louisiana Boardwalk happened Wednesday at the Bossier Parish Courthouse, according to The (Shreveport) Times. U.S. Bank National Association, acting as trustee for registered holders of Merrill Lynch Mortgage Trust, was the lone bidder on the outdoor shopping center, paying $25 million more than the required opening bid price. In February, the mortgage holder foreclosed on the Boardwalk’s loan because of late payments and appointed an Alabama company to oversee day-to-day operations of the shopping center. Stores remain open at the Louisiana Boardwalk. The shopping center has more than 70 retail spaces with several vacancies. The Louisiana Boardwalk opened in 2005 and represents the largest public-private partnership in Bossier City’s history. The city invested $43 million in the development and will recoup its money through property and sales tax revenue by 2015, according to city officials.
