Part(isan) and parcel: The Tea Party of Louisiana says it’s “still in shock and utter disbelief” at Gov. Bobby Jindal’s Oct. 25 announcement in support of Sen. John Alario for senate president. In a release sent to media Wednesday, the Tea Party of Louisiana says Alario, until recently, “was a long term Democrat who had been an ardent supporter of Edwin Edwards and his crony politics of the past.” Alario, of Westwego, switched to the Republican Party last year after decades as a Democrat. “We believe that Gov. Jindal has lost his mind to make this choice,” the Tea Party of Louisiana says. “Now that Jindal has won reelection, maybe the real Jindal is coming out—he cannot be conservative because if he were, he would have found a conservative in the Senate to support for president.” You can check out the Tea Party of Louisiana’s website here.

Pour another round: The Abita Brewing Co. says it will donate 25 cents from each pint sold of a forthcoming Select brew to the Gleason Family Trust founded by friends and family of former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason. In September, Gleason announced that he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. ALS is a debilitating neuromuscular malady for which there is no cure. Gleason is asking his fans to help name the new Select brew, which will be an Imperial Red Ale. “I’ve always been a beer lover and a big fan of Abita’s brews,” Gleason says. “I’m asking fans of Abita and members of Team Gleason to visit my Facebook page and suggest names for this very special brew. There are so many creative brains out there, I know they’ll come up with something really special.”

Really blows down those blues: Wendy’s is making a high-end reentry into Japan with a $16 burger festooned with foie gras and truffles, the Los Angeles Times reports. The third-largest fast-food chain in the U.S. (potentially soon to supplant Burger King for the No. 2 spot) took a breather from Japan for two years but returned this week to launch a restaurant in a luxury shopping area in Tokyo. That franchisee developed the luxurious 1,280-yen (about $16.45) sandwich-–the folks at Wendy’s corporate offices said they “really don’t have anything to do with it.” The goose liver confection won’t show up in the U.S. anytime soon, they add.
