Fresh face: Jennifer Dunphy has been named the plant manager of the ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Plastics Plant on Scenic Highway in Scotlandville, after former plant manager Charles Dabadie was promoted to become ExxonMobil’s Regional Manufacturing Manager in the Americas. The moves became effective March 1. Dunphy has worn many hats for ExxonMobil since joining the company’s chemical side in 1993, including as plant manager of the Edison Synthetics Plant in New Jersey. Dabadie, in his new role, will oversee single-unit chemical facilities in New Jersey, Florida, Louisiana, Texas and Brazil, ExxonMobil says in a news release. ExxonMobil’s Baton Rouge Plastics Plant was built in 1968, employs about 360 workers and produces materials used in adhesives, automotive hoses and bumpers.
Big honor: Chris Ferrari, principal of CSRS Inc., has been selected as the Baton Rouge City Champion for Lemonade Day on April 10. Ferrari, a Baton Rouge native and LSU alumnus, also is the market sector leader for CSRS. “I had my own lemonade stand around the age of seven, and it taught me the value of hard work, customer service, and that you can be rewarded by taking risks,” Ferrari says in a statement. In its sixth year, Lemonade Day is a fun way for children to foster a sense of entrepreneurship by selling homemade lemonade. They are urged to spend some of their earnings, save some and donate some to a charity of their choice. Ferrari will join Raising Cane’s founder and CEO Todd Graves and other business leaders on March 17 to officially kick off Lemonade Day.
New offices: A construction permit has been pulled for a new 8,220-square-foot office building at 11942 Lakeland Park Blvd., near Airline Highway and Cloverland Avenue. The building will be owned by Watching the Grass Grow LLC, represented by Lawrence Maestri and George Murrell, the namesakes of Maestri Murrell Commercial Real Estate. Attempts to reach both of them were unsuccessful as of this afternoon’s deadline. The construction permit says an environmental consulting engineering firm will occupy the 5,720-square-foot suite A. The permit does not name the engineering company. A 2,500-square foot suite to go adjacent to the engineering firm will also be built, though the permit does not say if a business has signed on for that warehouse space. Existing buildings on the property will be demolished.
