Detour: The intersection of South Harrell’s Ferry and Millerville roads will be closed Saturday and Sunday as part of Green Light Plan work to widen the roadway. The road will be closed from 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday to allow workers to install a drainage pipe across South Harrell’s Ferry. Drivers are urged to use South Sherwood Forest Boulevard, Jones Creek Road, O’Neal Lane or Coursey Boulevard as detours.

Pick a furry friend: Companion Animal Alliance of Baton Rouge, a local nonprofit that is reducing unnecessary killing of dogs and cats, will hold two pet adoption days this weekend. The organization will be at PetSmart on Millerville Road from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and at Salon at Seven Oaks from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. All of the dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, examined and microchipped. The cost of adopting an animal is $60; cats at least 1 year old will be $7 at the Salon at Seven Oaks.
