Moving in: The Health Insurance Store of Louisiana, a retail business at which customers can get assistance in buying insurance from a licensed assistant, is planning to open on Nov. 15 in suite 130 of the Lake Sherwood Mall, 4520 South Sherwood Blvd., near the Coursey Boulevard intersection. A press release from the company says it will particularly benefit those aged 18 to 64 who do not have employer-sponsored health insurance, as well as those looking to get more information on options available through the Affordable Care Act.

Yes, we’re open: Matthew Patton on Monday opened CUT Fine Jewelers at 9844 Jefferson Hwy., suite 101. In a press release issued today, Patton says the ambience of his interactive showroom is based upon an “Apple meets jewelry” concept. “Our concept of jewelry design and shopping is new to the market,” Patton says, “it is not your traditional experience, yet involves the customer in the participation and actual design of the jewelry.” Along with custom design and jewelry, Patton says the store will carry a wide selection of engagement rings.

Something to talk about: As it continues to work toward establishing a master plan for the preservation and improvement of the LSU lakes, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation will hold the first of two scheduled public input meetings at LSU on Thursday evening. The meeting will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in the business school auditorium. A second meeting will be held on Dec. 11, also on the LSU campus. BRAF says more public input meetings will be scheduled. RSVP to attend.
