Move will create 150 jobs: Halliburton says it will build a new manufacturing facility in Lafayette to produce machined components for oilfield service operations. The facility is expected to create 150 jobs with a payroll of more than $8 million, plus benefits. Halliburton says it will start building the 200,000-square-foot facility in July, which will create at least 250 construction jobs.
Facebook also exploding in popularity: The percentage of Americans 12 and older who own a smartphone has gone from 14% to 31% in the past year, according to a new Arbitron survey. The study, which was done along with Edison Research, found that 51% percent of Americans use Facebook, up from 8% in 2008. Daily usage of the Internet, radio and television has gone up to 8 hours and 11 minutes, compared with 6 hours and 50 minutes in 2001.
