Four more: More than $138,000 is being granted to four LSU AgCenter professors and researchers via the LSU’s LIFT2 Fund to help them bring inventions to the marketplace. The grant recipients are: Qinglin Wu, an AgCenter School of Renewable Natural Resources professor; Christina Sabliov, an AgCenter Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering professor; Witoon Prinyawiwatkul, an AgCenter School of Nutrition and Food Sciences professor; and Michael Vincent, an AgCenter Audubon Sugar Institute postdoctoral researcher. Wu developed thermoplastic cellulosic fiber granules that can be used as infill materials for artificial turf. Sabliov received a grant for a nanoparticle matrix she developed to be used in cataract-reducing eye drops. Prinyawiwatku was awarded a grant for his water-soluble chitosan products. Vincent is studying how to make both hard and flexible polymers using byproducts from sugar processing. The LSU AgCenter has more details.
