Will boost hiring of math and science teachers in south Louisiana: The ExxonMobil Foundation has awarded Teach for America a $500,000 grant to support math and science education in four regions, including south Louisiana. The money will be evenly divided among south Louisiana, Houston, Dallas and Washington, D.C. Funding will go to hire and train more than 400 teachers who will work in middle schools in low-income areas.
Get some rest: Seventy-two percent of people say they typically go to work when they are sick. Fifty-five percent of people who participated in the CareerBuilder survey say they feel guilty about calling in sick, even though 53% reported getting sick from a coworker. The survey was based on interviews with nearly 4,000 adults.
