Remote control: Gonzales-based EATEL has expanded its HomeIQ security service to the Baton Rouge market, offering homeowners the ability to monitor and remotely control home functions online via a smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer. Earlier this month, EATEL also launched its ZoneIQ security system for businesses. Service plans start at $24.95 per month.

Paying it forward: The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation has named Dustin LaFont and Tanja Foil, both of Baton Rouge, and Kristen Maddox of Denham Springs as 2015 Angel Award recipients for their volunteer efforts. LaFont founded Front Yard Bikes, Maddox founded A Door of Hope and Foil has volunteered and supported Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge. Each will receive a $20,000 grant for the charity of their choice. Blue Cross has more details.

Generating graduates: Nine Louisiana Community and Technical College System institutions have been ranked among Community College Week magazine’s 2015 edition of the Top 100 Associate Degree Producers. Community and technical colleges on the list include Baton Rouge Community College, Bossier Parish Community College, Delgado Community College, Fletcher Technical Community College, Louisiana Delta Community College, Northshore Technical Community College, Northwest Louisiana Technical College, South Central Louisiana Technical College and SOWELA Technical Community College.
