Back in business: Regulators say contaminated soil has been cleaned up at a former General Motors plant where headlights were built. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality says 600 tons of soil were dug up and removed at the old GM plant in Monroe. DEQ says the site, which includes 425,000 square feet of manufacturing and distribution space, is again ready for use. DEQ says it was concerned about five contaminated spots on the 182-acre site, now owned by Guideco Properties.
What not to do: A survey of hiring managers found the most common mistake people make during job interviews is answering a cell phone or sending text messages. Other common gaffes reported in the CareerBuilder survey include dressing inappropriately for a job interview, appearing uninterested and appearing arrogant. The poll of 2,400 hiring managers asked people to list the most outrageous blunders they ever saw during a job interview; those included one candidate who wore a hat that said “Take this job and shove it,” another who discussed how an affair cost him a previous job and the person who hugged the hiring manager at the end of an interview.
