Libraries lauded: The U.S. Government Publishing Office has named the LSU Libraries and Louisiana Tech University’s Prescott Memorial Library as 2015 Libraries of the Year. According to a news release from LSU, the libraries are part of the Federal Depository Library Program and are recognized for “demonstrating leadership, innovation and commitment to providing free public access to federal government information.” Both libraries have been around since the 19th century and helped Southern University in New Orleans reopen its library nearly 10 years after Hurricane Katrina. The only other library recognized is the University of North Texas Libraries.
