Streamlined: After recently divesting itself of its storage and shredding assets, Datafiche says it is completely focused on marketing its trademark document management solution of the same name, which it created and produced in Baton Rouge. The company is competing in a large market made up of national and global companies, and it recently entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Advanced Imaging Solutions, another locally owned business. In late September, Datafiche sold its record storage and document-destruction assets to Exec-U-Store Records Management Facility.

Ridding the red: New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s administration is turning to an oft-employed method, refinancing debt, to cover the lion’s share of the deficit it says it inherited when Landrieu took office in May 2010. The Times-Picayune reports a recently completed audit for 2010 shows that New Orleans ended the year $25.2 million in the red, a deficit that the state requires be eliminated by the end of next year. The city council recently gave preliminary approval to the administration’s plan to sell enough bonds to cover about $15.5 million in obligations that otherwise would come due this December and at the end of 2012. By issuing the new bonds, the city can push the $15.5 million of debt to 2013 and beyond.
