On the grow: Today is moving day for Commerce Title. To accommodate recent growth, the Baton Rouge-based title firm is expanding its footprint at its headquarters offices at 2051 Silverside Drive, Suite 160. Commerce Title, which has been in business for nearly 35 years, is moving into an additional 2,320 square feet of space at its headquarter offices. It previously operated in a 3,903-square-foot space. The company has added an attorney and six support staff members to its payroll in recent weeks, says a spokesperson. Commerce Title also has offices on South Sherwood Forest Boulevard and in Prairieville.
Salute: LSU’s online MBA program is included in a new ranking of the best such programs for veterans by U.S. News & World Report. The LSU Online Flores MBA Program, only two years old, is ranked No. 50 among public schools. The rankings identify 737 programs that provide veterans with high-quality, flexible online education options across eight categories. To qualify, an online degree program had to report participation in two key programs that offer educational benefits to people with military service—being part of an institution certified for the G.I. Bill and a participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program. Charging in-state tuition to out-of-state veterans also qualified the LSU program.
Kicking it off: BREC will open its new FootGolf courses to the public on Saturday at City Park, 1515 Dalrymple Drive, and J.S. Clark Golf Course, 2301 Thomas Road. As part of the opening day festivities, participants can play FootGolf for free from 12 to 4 p.m. at both courses. A new offering by BREC, FootGolf is a combination of soccer and golf. The main goal of the game is to get a soccer ball from the marked teeing ground into the specialty FootGolf hole with the lowest number of kicks possible. FootGolf is played on holes shorter than those used for golf, with a course averaging 150 yards per hole. Pars are typically five or below. Compared to golf, FootGolf is quicker to play, more accessible to players and does not require expensive equipment, says BREC, which has more details.
