Celebrity sighting: Comedian and actor Kevin James, known best perhaps for his roles in the King of Queens TV show and Paul Blart: Mall Cop movie, stopped by City Pork Deli and Charcuterie at the Perkins Road overpass this afternoon for lunch. Ryan André, executive chef at City Pork’s location on Jefferson Highway, sent out a tweet around 12:30 p.m. with a photo of James, City Pork co-owner Chase Lyons and Sean Revira, executive chef of the overpass location, that reads: “Thank you @KevinJames for visiting @CityPorkBR today for lunch. Hope you enjoyed everything.”
Off topic: Thomas Skinner, the LSU System’s new general counsel, has a pedigree that is as impressive as his resume. As LSU’s student newspaper, The Daily Reveille, reports, Skinner’s father, Samuel, was the U.S. Secretary of Transportation and Chief of Staff for former President George H.W. Bush. His brother-in-law is NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Skinner says he’s close to his brother-in-law, speaking via email or phone at least twice a week. They often vacation in the summers, enjoying cigars, paddle-boarding and golfing—essentially anything to avoid talking about football. His demeanor may surprise some, Skinner says. Bobby Jindal has been published 47 times in general interest outlets such as the Washington Post, CNN and Politico as well as conservative-leaning media such as the Wall Street Journal, Fox News and National Review. Of those, 41 have been since the start of his second term in 2012. “Whether you’re a fan of his or not, the guy is a one-man think tank,” Curt Anderson, a political consultant who has worked with Jindal since 2003, tells the magazine.
