News roundup: Coco gets national honor … Local advertising federation named club of the year

Named outstanding young engineer: Russell “Joey” Coco Jr. of Baton Rouge has been named the winner of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ 2011 Edmund Freidman Young Engineer Award for Professional Achievement. Coco, a principal of Engensus, will receive the award this fall at the ASCE conference in Memphis, Tenn. Coco is deputy director of the Louisiana Infrastructure Report Card, which is grading the state’s roads, bridges and ports in order to provide an objective analysis of them and determine where best to commit infrastructure funding.

Tops 200 other groups: The American Advertising Federation – Baton Rouge chapter was named Division III Club of the Year at the AAF National Convention in San Diego. Jason Feirman, AAF-BR president, was named National AAF Division III Club President of the Year. Feirman is publications director for LSU Athletics.
