Get motivated: Former LSU men’s basketball coach Dale Brown will be on campus Friday to sign copies of his newly released motivational book, Getting Over the Four Hurdles of Life. The signing will take place at the LSU Bookstore in the LSU Student Union from 10 a.m. until noon, just before the football team’s 1:30 p.m. game against Arkansas. Brown’s latest book identifies four of the main hurdles that block most people’s path to success, happiness and fulfillment; and prescribes ways of dealing with and overcoming these hurdles. For more information on the book signing, contact the LSU Bookstore at 578-5137.

Holiday schedule: Thanksgiving is an official city-parish holiday, meaning all offices will be closed Thursday. Offices will also be closed Friday, which has been declared a floating holiday. Solid waste and recyclable collections will not be made on Thursday. Garbage and trash normally collected on Thursday will be collected Monday, while recyclables normally collected on Thursday will be collected on the following Thursday. The North Landfill will be closed on Thursday but will be open Friday.

Debate on tap: Lafayette City-Parish President Joey Durel’s administration is at odds with the City of Broussard over a wholesale water line. Lafayette officials are planning to send Broussard a bill for as much as $1 million to recoup the cost of water Broussard has been consuming—but not paying for—since 2006. Broussard has somehow been using a bypass line, rather than a metered line, to bring wholesale water from the Lafayette Utilities System to some of its residents, but LUS was unaware the city was using that line and hasn’t been billing the city for the water. Currently, Broussard buys water in bulk at a wholesale price from LUS to resell to its residents through its own water system. Read the full story by The Advertiser here.
