Coffee Lovers: CC’s Coffee House plans to open five new locations across Louisiana this year. Two of the stores are located in New Orleans,one in the West Bank and the other on Canal Street. The remaining stores are located in Houma, Youngsville and Monroe. In a news release, the company says the Monroe store is projected to be the first of the five to open. Founded in 1995, CC’s Coffee House now has more than 30 locations.

Coming soon: Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, a Wichita-Kansas based chain, is on track to open its doors to its first Baton Rouge restaurant March 20. The fast-casual food franchise will be located at 6464 Siegen Lane, in a building formerly occupied by Arby’s. The chain purchased the building for $1.3 million. Lexie Pearce, the chain’s public relations manager, says the restaurant is a throwback to the America of the late 1940s and early ’50s. Freddy’s has more than 150 restaurants nationwide. It began franchising in 2004.

Stepping up: Management and strategy consulting firm Emergent Method is offering a lunchtime education series to emerging leaders of nonprofit organizations. The Next Wave Nonprofit Leaders’ Program will take place at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library on Goodwood Boulevard beginning April 27 and culminate with a closing ceremony on Nov. 16. Session topics include understanding leadership, management and coaching styles; financial management and effective governance; and staying positive when you have to be tough.
