Machine beats Congressman: U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy was beaten by Watson, the Jeopardy-playing supercomputer. Watson scored 6,200 points at an event organized in Washington, D.C., by IBM, while the Baton Rouge Republican lawmaker scored 1,000, according to The Hill. U.S. Rep. Rush Holt, D-N.J., beat both Cassidy and Watson, scoring 8,600 points. Watson, a cutting-edge information processor, beat all-time Jeopardy champion Ken Jennings in a recently televised game. Cassidy, a liver specialist, told The Hill he was at a disadvantage since he doesn’t watch Jeopardy and isn’t fond of trivia games.
Will put Lafayette company in Texarkana market: Home health provider LHC Group Inc. says it has started a joint venture with Christus Health to provide home services in the Texarkana, Texas, area. Terms of the agreement have not been revealed yet by Lafayette-based LHC Group. The primary service area includes nine Texas counties with a population of about 300,000. Christus is a Catholic, faith-based, not-for-profit health system with 50 hospitals and 175 clinics and outpatient centers.
