Arrival: The Baton Rouge Area Chamber has hired Nancy Little as the new director of events. She will be responsible for the development and execution of events supporting BRAC’s strategies and work. She will also take over the direction of the Baton Rouge Area Canvas Workshop. A Monroe native, Little is an LSU graduate who also spent five years working for the university as a marketing strategist. She also formerly served as president of the New York metro chapter of the LSU alumni club.

Harder, better, faster, stronger: Roofing Solutions of Prairieville has acquired architectural panel and pre-engineered metal building specialist E.R. Barnes of Mandeville. Roofing Solutions owners Tupac and Lautaro de la Cruz say an expansion of services will allow the company to provide turnkey solutions and be more competitive across Louisiana and the Gulf Coast. Barnes is now serving as architectural panel systems manager for Roofing Solutions. With the acquisition, Roofing Solutions will also expand its services as a pre-engineered metal buildings erector.

Around the world: LSU has signed a five-year letter of intent with the College of Management of the National Taiwan University to further “international co-operation in research and education.” According to Emerging Markets Initiative Director Ye-Sho Chen, who is also a professor in the LSU E.J. Ourso College of Business’ Department of Information Systems & Decision Sciences, the agreement between the two institutions will include organization and performance of joint research projects, academic seminars and guest lecturers; exchanges of faculty, research and students; and exchanges of scholarly materials, research reports and publications. Chen says talks are ongoing to begin student exchanges “as soon as possible.”
