Top cop: Mayor Sharon Weston Broome is set to announce her pick to lead the Baton Rouge Police Department as chief at a 10:30 a.m. press conference on Friday. Broome is making her pick from among five finalists: Robert McGarner, Myron Daniels, and Darryl Honoré—all current Baton Rouge police officers—as well as former BRPD officer Ronald Stevens and Louisiana State Police trooper Murphy Paul Jr. Broome interviewed each candidate earlier this month.

Talk of the town: Matt Moscona of Guaranty Media has been recognized as one of the top 35 local sports talk show hosts in America by Radio Ink magazine. Moscona ranks No. 32 on the list. The show also is televised live throughout the southeast on Cox Sports Television. Radio Ink, a trade publication, has published the list for six years, recognizing talent in both large and small markets. See the full ranking.
