Top big city: Baton Rouge has been named the cleanest city in the state with a population of more than 100,000 by the Louisiana Garden Club Federation. The city has also been judged the cleanest city in southeastern Louisiana. Judges for the award visited Baton Rouge for three weeks in April, touring the Capitol grounds, various schools, LSU, parks, public buildings, several neighborhoods and businesses.

Get your degree in grilling: The first-ever Viking Cooking School Outdoors will open this fall on the pool deck of the Hilton Capitol Center downtown. The school will offer hands-on lessons in an outdoor pavilion, with themed classes such as romantic date night and tailgate cooking.
