Building up: The parent company of three Baton Rouge charter schools has purchased land adjacent to two of the schools for a new gym. Community School for Apprenticeship Learning Inc. purchased the property for $200,000 from Mobius Industries USA Inc. Construction on the 200-seat gym could begin within a year, says Dujan Johnson, CEO of CSAL Inc. Johnson says the gym is currently in the design phase and the company is working with some firms on preliminary pricing for the project. Under the CSAL Inc. umbrella are the Community School for Apprenticeship Learning and Madison Preparatory Academy, which both sit at 1555 Madison Ave., as well as the online Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy.

Going down: Foreclosure rates for outstanding mortgage loans in the Baton Rouge area decreased to 1.05% in Baton Rouge, down .18 percentage points from February 2015, according to data provided by CoreLogic, a global property information, analytics and data-enabled services provider. Also, mortgage delinquency rates in Baton Rouge decreased. For February, 3.67% of mortgage loans were 90 days or more delinquent compared to the 4.27% for the same period last year, according to CoreLogic. Compared to the rest of the country, foreclosure activity in the greater Baton Rouge area was lower than the national rate of 1.13%. 

Rebranded: Cumulus Media has announced that it is maximizing programming at WRKN-FM and rebranding it as “The Gulf South’s Country Giant … New Orleans, Baton Rouge… NASH 92.3.” According to a news release, the rebranding involves moving from a traditional contemporary country format to a new mass-appeal country format pairing Country Gold programming and modern country hits. The core programming will center on ’90s country music and will feature artists such as Tim McGraw, Dixie Chicks, Brooks & Dunn, Keith Urban and Toby Keith. WRKN-FM serves the Baton Rouge and New Orleans metro areas as well as the Gulf South via a 2,000-foot-tall radio tower. The station was formerly branded “NASH FM 92.3 New Orleans’ New Country Leader.”
