Through the roof: The spring selling season got off to a hot start in March. According to the latest monthly sales report from the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors, closed sales in the eight-parish region were up 14.7% in March, compared to the same month last year. A total of 755 homes were sold across the region in March, up from 658 in March 2014. In East Baton Rouge Parish, sales were up 13.4% during the month, while Livingston Parish posted a 13.7% increase in sales and Ascension Parish saw sales rise 18%. Taste test: LSU’s largest dining hall on campus, a 29,000-square-foot facility known as The 5, has been ranked as the nation’s 11-best on any college campus. As highlighted in USA Today, the ranking is by a website called Spoon University, an online food publication with articles written by people under 25 years old. “The 5 offers varied stations like a salad bar, coffee bar, pizza, pasta dishes, and soft-serve ice cream,” reads the ranking. “The 5 has a store open late at night with chocolate, potato chips, Papa Johns pizza, and Krispy Kreme donuts.” See the full story and ranking.
Setting the table: The Baton Rouge Area Chamber is bringing back for a second year its Around the Table event, which places 225 participants in twenty different homes throughout the Baton Rouge area for an evening of conversation and connections. The event will take place on Thursday, June 4 and that registration is now open. The theme for the evening this year will be connections. Participants at each home will be encouraged to discuss various way to connect within the community, the workplace, and with other residents.
