Opening soon: Atkins, a British-based multinational engineering, design, planning, project management and consulting services company, is opening a Baton Rouge office at 445 North Blvd. on Thursday, the company announced today. The company says it is opening the office to assist existing clients in the state, noting it also landed a recent Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority contract to provide engineering services. The Baton Rouge office will complement Atkins’ offices in Metairie and 27 other offices across the Gulf Coast, the company says.
Launching careers: According to a recently released NASA economic impact report, approximately 1,448 Louisianans work with the agency, contractors and organizations at the NASA Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, earning an average salary of $86,000 annually. The Louisiana Business & Technology Center at LSU operates the Louisiana Technology Transfer Office at the NASA Stennis Space Center to assist Louisiana businesses and universities in accessing the resources of NASA and the federal labs located at the space center.
In the vault: Baton Rouge-based Business First Bank has been named one of the Best Banks to Work For in the nation for 2014 by American Banker, an industry trade publication. A total of 40 banks across the U.S. were selected by the publication for its annual list, based on on workplace policies, practices, and the experiences and attitudes shared by individual employees. Business First, which has six locations throughout the state, is ranked No. 23 on the list. It is the lone Louisiana-based bank on the list. See the complete list.
