ARE to the rescue: The Ascension Economic Development Corporation has unveiled a new campaign to build greater awareness about its services. The new campaign for business and industry uses the word “ARE,” which stands for “Ascension Retention and Expansion,” and the slogan “We ARE your Ascension Connection.” Mike Eads, president and CEO of the AEDC, says part of the campaign is designed to let businesses already in Ascension Parish know that economic development incentive programs are open to them. “In Louisiana, there are no incentive programs for new business development that aren’t also available to help firms that are already here grow and expand,” he says. The campaign was developed by a task force of local business and industry executives.

Despite lockout, business goes on: The NFL will move kickoffs up 5 yards to the 35-yard line, keep touchbacks coming out to the 20 and allow the number of players in a blocking wedge to remain at two. Kick coverage players now will be limited to lining up 5 yards or fewer from the spot of the kickoff. Team owners also voted today at a meeting in New Orleans to make all scoring plays reviewable by the replay official and referee. But they tabled a proposal to ban players launching themselves to make a tackle, and will reconsider it in May.
