Whole payoff: Amazon’s $13.7 billion acquisition of the upscale grocer Whole Foods appears to be paying off early. The e-commerce giant is seeing a surge in online grocery shopping for staples like canned beans and tomato paste after Amazon immediately put around 2,000 items on its site from Whole Foods 365 Everyday Value brand, Bloomberg reports. Amazon raised eyebrows last month when it announced it would buy Whole Foods, and again when it announced it would cut prices. Bloomberg has more.

Lucky number seven: Miss Louisiana Laryssa Bonacquisti made it to the top 7 contenders for the Miss America 2018 crown in Atlantic City Sunday night. As the Monroe News Star reports, Bonacquisti, a student of LSU’s Manship School of Mass Communication, performed her routine of singing, yodeling and auctioning with her puppets Lucky and Lucy. See a video of Bonacquisti’s routine from the News Star.

Turbulent times: Flight cancellations stemming from Irma have reached the thousands—and counting—as the storm turns toward Atlanta, home of the world’s busiest airport. As the Washington Post reports, Delta Air Lines cancelled around 900 flights, with more than a third coming from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International. The airport has as many as 2,800 daily departures and around 275,000 passengers each day. Wind shear, lightning and other weather conditions could lead to additional flight cancellations.
