Another way: Sundrop Fuels Inc., of Louisville, Colo., says it will build a $450 million biofuels refinery that will bring 150 new jobs to central Louisiana. The plant will salvage wood waste from renewable forests in the area and use that as feedstock to extract carbon, which it will combine with hydrogen extracted from Louisiana’s natural gas supplies to create up to 50 million gallons of renewable green fuel a year. Construction of the plant will begin in 2012, with hiring in 2013 and full operation in 2014. The jobs will average more than $58,000 a year, plus benefits. Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Stephen Moret says the project will help position the state as a leader in developing alternative fuels.

Another day: The East Baton Rouge Parish Library Board of Control will meet a day earlier than previously announced to evaluate library Director David Farrar’s performance. Instead of meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 30, the board says it will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 4 p.m. in the boardroom of the Main Library, 7711 Goodwood Blvd. Board President Kizzy Payton and Vice President Tanya Freeman will lead the seven-member panel conducting Farrar’s annual review. Farrar has been library director since November 2008, and his base salary is $89,030 a year. His salary is capped at $100,000. Pending a favorable review, Farrar will be eligible for a 3% merit increase, effective in January. Read more about the meeting in a Daily Report article here.

Expect delays: With anticipated attendance nearing 7,000, the Get Motivated seminar on Monday, Dec. 5, is expected to cause traffic congestion and tight parking around the Baton Rouge River Center, where the event featuring Les Miles, Gen. Colin Powell, Terry Bradshaw, Steve Forbes and others is taking place. Government, St. Louis and St. Ferdinand streets, as well as River Road, are expected to be impacted most. Motorists are advised to exit from Interstate 110 at Convention Street rather than Government Street to get downtown from the expressway. Those not attending the seminar are advised to use the parking garage on the corner of Third and Convention streets. Doors will open at 6:45 a.m. for the seminar, which runs from 8 a.m. through 4:45 p.m. The River Center will provide a free bus service from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. All buses will drop off guests in front of the main entrance of the River Center on River Road. Further details regarding bus routes and information will be announced as the event date approaches. More information on the seminar is available at its website here.
