With its first local restaurant scheduled to open next week and a second location under construction, Newk’s Eatery announced today that is has plans for a third Baton Rouge restaurant—this one in Perkins Rowe.
It’s unclear exactly where the restaurant will be located in the mixed-use development. A spokeswoman for Perkins Rowe says lease negotiations have not been completed. However, she says that if all goes according to plan the restaurant will be in an existing shell space and could open as soon as this summer.
Newk’s, a Jackson, Mississippi-based fast-casual chain with 80 restaurants in 13 states, is rapidly growing its presence in the Baton Rouge market. Its first restaurant at 7211 Corporate Blvd. will celebrate its grand opening Monday. A second location at 3332 Lake St. near the North Gates of the LSU campus is scheduled to open in May.
“The Newk’s openings in Baton Rouge are an important part of our plan to increase density within the Southeast while expanding into the lower Midwest, along the Gulf Coast and up to the East Coast,” says Chris Newcomb, Newk’s founder and CEO.
