Dantin Bruce Development Co. has purchased about 50 acres off Burbank Drive between the LSU campus and Staring Lane and will begin clearing dirt next week for a 184-lot residential subdivision called Magnolia Lakes, says developer Brian Dantin. The land deal was completed Tuesday, at a price of $2.2 million. The seller was listed as Grand Oaks at Highland LLC. The land is located next to Meadow Bend subdivision and across the street from Pelican Lakes; it was formerly slated to be developed as Grand Oaks subdivision by the previous owner. “We’ll have the first lots ready within five months, and they’re all pre-sold to a builder,” Dantin says. The first phase of development will include about two dozen homes. While the specifics are not yet nailed down, home prices will be “in the entry-level range,” says Dantin, whose company is also currently developing the Perkins Lane subdivision off Perkins Road and 333 Lofts near LSU. —Steve Sanoski
