A new bar and restaurant could be coming to Government Street in a strip center just down the street from the recently opened White Star Market and soon-to-open Soji.
S. Tanner Strohschein is seeking to have the shopping center at the corner of Government Street and Cloud Drive rezoned to allow for alcohol sales and restaurant use. Strohschein and Daniel Laborde bought the center, currently home to a St. Vincent de Paul Society thrift shop and First & Claborne Dental Labs, in February for $775,000. Strohschein could not be reached for comment before this morning’s deadline.
The rezoning application was filed late last month, and the Planning and Zoning Commission is set to take it up at its July 16 meeting. If approved, the Metro Council will still need to finalize the zoning change.
