The next addition to the Drusilla Village Shopping Center will be a New Orleans Original Daiquiris shop.
The daiquiri store plans to open early this fall in a 2,800-square-foot outparcel fronting Drusilla Lane that had been occupied by Drusilla Imports Home Decor. Drusilla Imports for a time operated two locations within the shopping center but has consolidated its merchandise into the larger of the two spaces, which is between LeBlanc’s Frais Marche and Hancock Fabrics.
The New Orleans Original Daiquiris outlet will be the third for the Metairie-based chain in Baton Rouge and the eighth in the Capital Region. Since acquiring the shopping center last spring for $10.5 million, developer Donnie Jarreau has changed the tenant mix and invested more than $2 million in upgrading and improving the facility.
On March 31, LeBlanc’s Frais Marche opened in the shopping center. The LeBlanc family spent more than $3 million renovating and expanding the 30,000-square-foot space, previously occupied by Hi Nabor Supermarket.
Jarreau says more new tenants are on the way, but no deals have been finalized yet.
