A Kennesaw, Georgia-based firm that develops senior care facilities is planning to develop a 34,273-square foot adult care facility on Perkins Road that will provide memory care and assisted living for dementia patients, according to a permit application for the project filed with the Department of Public Works.

The new facility, which is being marketed online as Phoenix at Jamestown, will be located on a three-acre tract at 14443 Perkins Road in The Lakes at Jamestown, Carlos Alvarez’s planned unit development. Alvarez says the developers have signed a purchase agreement for the property but have not yet closed on the deal.

The one-story building will be located on the vacant tract on the northeast corner of The Lakes at Jamestown entrance on Perkins Road and will blend in with the southern vernacular style architecture that characterizes the rest of the development, Alvarez says.

“This will be Baton Rouge’s premier memory care facility,” says Alvarez, who is not directly involved with the project’s development. “It will be very nice, and they have worked very closely with The Lakes at Jamestown neighborhood association to make sure it fits in.”

Representatives for Phoenix Senior Living could not be reached for comment as of this afternoon’s deadline. According to the company’s website, however, the firm has two facilities in Georgia—Dunwoody and Roswell. Two more facilities are planned for Milton, Georgia, and Jamestown, both of which are slated to open in 2016, according to the website. Phoenix facilities offer both memory care and assisted living.
