With a goal of obtaining a 1% share of the lucrative athletic training industry, the latest tenant to join the Louisiana Business and Technology Center at LSU will specialize in developing training apparatus for next-generation athletes.
Apex Resistance and Conditioning’s flagship product is a bionic suit that adds resistance to a user’s normal motion. The product does not contain weights, instead creating resistance through the user’s natural motion, which avoids weighted pressure on their body. The suit includes a compression shirt and pair of shorts that stabilize muscles by minimizing vibrations, providing better blood flow and resulting in a more efficient workout.
“In a community where athletic training and fitness is at a premium, this is a great place to launch this state-of-the-art fitness and training device,” LBTC Executive Director Charlie D’Agostino says in a news release issued today. “By locating at the LBTC, we can give Apex Resistance and Conditioning an access to athletes, coaches and fitness trainers that have strong ties to LSU. Coupling these networks to the LBTC’s business counseling staff is a winning combination for the company.”
Apex Resistance and Conditioning’s business partners, Adrian Cornish and Nathan Roy, have put in hundreds of hours of prototype development and testing to develop the optimum resistance suit that combines perfect functionality and beautiful aesthetics. When they’re ready to bring the suits to the marketplace, they hope to sell about 2,000 per month and plan to add more products to the company’s line in the future.
